Primary School Quadkids Athletics Competition – Blackpool

Another exciting week of School Games action in Blackpool saw another place in Team Blackpool for the 2019 SPAR Lancashire School Games secured as county qualifying competitions took place in athletics.

The qualifiers got underway with the Primary School Quadkids Athletics competition at Stanley Park which saw over 100 talented children from across the town competing in a track and field event that would test their running, jumping and throwing skills. The event was made up of a 400m run, a vortex howler throw, a standing long jump and an energy sapping 50m sprint race and required all of the young athletes to compete in every challenge which meant that every point achieved would count to the overall school score total. Children from Hawes Side, Holy Family, Revoe, St Teresa’s, Thames, Waterloo and Westcliff gave the spectators a fantastic showing of athleticism which in turn was rewarded by lot of cheers of encouragement and congratulations throughout the event. The 50m sprint races took place in front of the spectators as the final events of the competition which meant the atmosphere went through the roof as the children found one final burst of energy to try and get across the finish line as quickly as possible. All of the teams came together at the end of the competition to congratulate each other on a great morning of school sport before gathering to find out who would claim the Team Blackpool t-shirts for the SPAR Lancashire School Games. The team from Revoe were ultimately crowned Quadkids Champions and were welcomed into Team Blackpool by the event organisers.
