After a fantastic Quadkids Athletics competition at Stanley Park, another place for the 2019 SPAR Lancashire School Games was secured by Team Blackpool in the Secondary School Climbing Event.
The momentum continued into the Secondary School Climbing Competition that made a welcomed re-appearance after a few years’ absence. The event saw 6 teams of climbers from Armfield, Montgomery, South Shore, St Mary’s and Unity scale the heights of the climbing and bouldering walls at Blackpool Sports Centre in an attempt to join their fellow secondary schools in Team Blackpool for the SPAR Lancashire School Games. The event saw the teams split into two groups with one heading up the wall and the other heading upstairs to the bouldering challenges before a half time turnaround that would see the teams cross paths to complete their second round of challenges. An army of climbing instructors and sports coaches from Sport Blackpool took charge of the event which meant that the schools could stand back and watch their students get higher and higher all the way to the bonus holds at the top of the wall. After all sets of feet were firmly back on the ground the scores were revealed which saw the climbers from South Shore Academy scooping the top spot across all of the schools after awesome ascents on the walls to claim another place in Team Blackpool.
